hello friends!!! Sorry I’ve been such a fail at updating this story. I know I suck and I apologize. We’re nearing the end of this so I’m going to start kicking my own ass into gear to get it completed. I’ve had so many different things going on with RL and I just couldn’t find the time to update. These characters are being stubborn. I know exactly what needs to happen closer to the end but my evil villains are being complicated and aren’t exactly filling me in on their secret plan.
So anyways, read on and I’ll see you at the bottom!
Jasper pulled me down by my shoulders and clamped a cold hand over my mouth. I wasn’t aware that I had made any noise.
I looked to him for the answers I hoped he had and all of a sudden it felt like the ground was shaking under me. I wasn’t sure how long my legs were going to hold me up and I grabbed Jaspers arms that were holding for support. I was sure my feet were going to give out on me and I would end up on my ass.
“Alice,” Jasper said as he slowly rose from the balls of his feet to stand at his almost full height.
I stood up a little too fast, giving myself a head rush and then realizing that the ground wasn’t shaking. It was my own body convulsing. Whether from being cold or scared, I wasn’t sure.
I looked in Jasper’s eyes and saw pure fear in them. He never seemed to be afraid of James or his stupid minions before, so the dread I saw in his gaze ran straight through me and captured my bones in its grasp.
“Alice!” Jasper whispered again, though this time with a more commanding tone.
I snapped my head around to look at him.
He uttered one word but I then knew that we were fucked if I didn’t listen to him.
“Run.”
As soon as he said it, he immediately turned and ran with me following behind as closely as I could. It was a little more difficult for me to follow because it was dark and I could only see a faint outline of his figure. I wasn’t exactly sure what we were running from but I wasn’t about to stop and ask questions. Run first, ask questions later. I pushed myself to keep up with him and I was pretty sure he was slowing his pace to ensure I stayed with him.
We were running straight across the clearing instead of around this time, and I was glad. I not sure I would have been able to keep up if we had to dodge sticks and branches. It seemed like it was taking longer to run across than it was to walk around.
I looked down at my feet, commanding them to go faster. I looked back up and saw Jasper slowing his pace more until he came to a complete stop. He was still a few feet in front of me. The closer I got to him to more his face came into view. I became more wary as I neared him because his expression was one of pure horror. He wasn’t looking at me, though.
He was looking behind me.
I made the mistake of looking behind me and saw a dark figure stalking towards us both at an unnatural speed. Too fast for human legs, regardless of what kind of training they did.
I knew whatever was behind us wasn’t human, and that thought scared me more than anything I had learned in the past few days.
I threw myself into Jasper’s arms, urging him to keep running. He was unmoving though. His stomach and arms felt like stone. I pushed him backwards but he didn’t budge. I looked back behind me and saw the figure coming up to us fast. I wouldn’t leave him here but I was running out of options to get us away.
The dark figure slowed a normal walk and I grabbed Jasper’s hand with my own trembling one. I wasn’t sure what to expect after this but I knew whatever happened, I would be at Jasper’s side.
The closer it got to me, the more of it I could see. It was in a long black trench coat with the hood up. It looked to be too long in the sleeves but I wasn’t about to tell them that.
The dark, hooded figure came to a halt in front of me, with their head tilted slightly down. I was beyond scared and wasn’t sure what to do. I could see a glimpse of their face but not enough to tell who or what it was. Their skin was so pale, it was glowing an eery white under the bright moonlight. Their lips were tinted a red as if they had been drinking a red liquid. Kool-Aid perhaps? I think not.
“What do you want?!” I yelled out of fear more than anger.
The figure raised its head and looked me square in the eye. The pale skin was now shadowed by the hood of its coat. All I saw were blood red eyes, the same color as Bella’s had been, although these were a deeper red. I didn’t understand it.
“You,” the figure said to me. The voice seemed vaguely familiar, though I couldn’t place it.
“Me? Why do you want me? I’m of no use to you! I haven’t done anything!” I tried my best at sounded confident but my voice came out as more of a squeak if anything.
The figure, who I was assuming to be a man now, laughed and it chilled me to my core. “Oh, I don’t want you, stupid brat. Not at all. I’m here to deliver you.” He brought his hand up to my face and I was shocked by how freezing cold it was. It felt like he was running an ice cube down my cheek.
“D-d-d-d-deliver me?” I stuttered out, feeling and sounding like a fool and not at all the confident bitch I was going for. “Deliver me from what?”
He laughed once more though there was no humor in his voice. I clutched onto Jasper, even though he was still unmoving. “Not deliver you from anything, you dumb bitch. Deliver you TO someone. You might as well let go of his arm now, sweetheart. He’s not going anywhere but where I tell him to. As will you.” He gazed deep into my eyes as if trying to speak something into my mind the way Jasper had at times. I wasn’t hearing anything though.
He blinked a few times and stared at me harder, his eyebrows coming together and his eyes becoming a more bright shade of the flaming red Bella’s had been.
I could feel myself quivering in fear as he continued to gaze at me, almost piercing my very soul with his look.
“FUCK!” he growled. “Jasper!” he turned to look at Jasper and Jasper’s head immediately snapped to the direction of our captors voice.
“Yes, Edward,” Jasper said, as if speaking to a commanding general.
Edward? Edward! That’s how I recognized his voice. That stupid son-of-a-bitch asshole. I was thoroughly confused now.
“Jasper, come with me.” Edward stared deep into Jasper’s eyes for a second until Jasper followed without a fight, without a word, nothing except a head nod.
I wasn’t to be tricked as easily. “What the fuck a second. I’m not coming with you. You’re going to release him from whatever voodoo hold you’ve got going there and we’re fucking leaving.” I drew my hand back to slap him but he was much too fast for my slow reaction.
He grabbed my wrist in a tighter hold than I’ve ever felt. Even tighter than the handcuffs I had slapped on me when Bella decided to get into her dad’s police bag and play cops and robbers.
“You will do no such thing you stupid cunt. If you ever try to lay a hand on me again, I won’t wait for the okay to kill you. You’re coming with me because his life as well as yours depends on it.” His voice was thick with a venomous purr. The sound of his voice was truly beautiful, but the words that were coming out of it negated the melodious sound.
I could feel the wet tears sliding down my face before I realized, much to my dismay, that I had started to cry.
Edward hushed me as he put a finger to my lips. I tried to pull away but he grabbed me around my waist in a tight hold, his fingers digging into my hip.
“Don’t cry, angel. I’m nothing to be afraid of. Pretty soon, this will all be over. You’ll see. There will be no more pain and you can be with your precious Jasper in a better place. It will all be okay.”
His words made me weep harder and I couldn’t control the tears now. I knew he was speaking of my death and it frightened me to no end. Not that I was going to die, but that I was going to die a horrible death. That much I knew. It would be painful and my family would have no explanation.
He turned my face up to his and his lips crashed into mine. His lips tasted all wrong. Nothing like the sweetness Jasper tasted of. This was entirely off but I knew if I fought him, he wouldn’t hesitate to kill me now. I relaxed into his grip but made no effort to return his passion.
I silently apologized to Bella and Jasper both, knowing they would never hear me but making my own conscience rest easy.
He took my weeping as a moan and pulled me tighter to him. Tears streamed down my face in fear of what I knew was coming soon
What I wasn’t expecting was a pain my bottom lip. I jerked back from him and drew my hand up to my lip. I felt a wet substance at the same time I tasted the salty copper on my tongue.
That fucker bit me.
I looked at him and was surprised at what I saw. He was licking his lips and smiling, with his eyes closed and head turned towards the moon.
I was in disbelief. Either he was a super freak or he was a...a...
I couldn’t even put together the word in my mind.
Flashes of the past began to run through my head.
Things Jasper had said, things he had looked at while he thought I was sleeping. I figured I had dreamt all these things but what they were stunned me.
They were memories, but not my own. Jaspers.
I looked at Jasper and he was looking at Edward, with the same face as before. I didn’t understand, though, why these images were running through my head now of all times.
If I hadn’t been looking at him, I might not have believed it. Jasper’s eyes slid to mine for a brief second, but one second was all it took for me to understand what he was trying to tell me.
“Say it, Alice...Say it...Out loud,” Edward commanded.
“V-v-vampire. Vampire.”
“Good girl,” he cooed as he pet my head. His icy fingers all but froze my scalp as I fought the shudder threatening to run through my body. Don’t show weakness was my new mantra for making it through this night.
Jasper’s eyes slid to mine once more before snapping back to Edward’s.
“Do what he says if you want to live.”
I was in instant understanding.
“Take me, Edward.”
A/N: whew! now that THAT is over, what do ya'll think?
